What is involved in the role?

Courier drivers are a vital part of the community. They assist businesses to function and help individuals by delivering packages in a friendly and efficient manner. As a courier driver, you will spend your day travelling throughout the community and will get to meet a wide variety of people. Courier drivers are the face of their companies, often being the sole point of contact that many customers have with the company. As such, it is important that courier drivers carry out their work in a professional manner.
Courier driving is a busy job and requires you to keep track of pickups and deliveries, mapping and following delivery routes, heavy lifting (loading and unloading your vehicle), basic vehicle maintenance, completing paperwork (or using technology to do so). A courier driver must be able to do all this, in any type of weather, and will need to maintain excellent customer service skills under even the most difficult of conditions.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an energetic, motivated and reliable courier drivers who are able to work independently. This role will require you to pick up packages and deliver them to various places throughout the city. As you will have contact with a variety of people in this role it is important that you have a clean and neat image and a positive attitude. You must also be honest and trustworthy as you will be required to work unsupervised.
As a delivery driver, you may find yourself delayed due to traffic or accidents. You must be able to display patience in these circumstances. The ability to think on your feet to be able to find an alternative route to minimise the impact of such delays is also critical.  Courier driving is a physically demanding job and drivers must be physically fit and able to lift heavy parcels throughout their shift.

You will also be required to keep track of all deliveries, both incoming and outgoing, so must have good organisational skills.
Good time management skills are also a must, as all packages must be delivered in a timely and efficient manner. You must also be able to prioritize as some deliveries may be time critical.

Delivery and route driving experience are advantageous. You must have a full licence, with a good driving record. Good knowledge of the local area is also beneficial. Must be able to communicate, read and write in fluent English.
